Marketing Doesn’t Work for Me

I saw a Facebook post a couple of days ago that I cannot stop thinking about… 🤔

An author said (ish): 🗣️

“Ads don’t work for me. TikTok users don’t like my books. What other marketing avenues can I use?”

I didn’t respond because… wow. That’s a loaded question. 😅

But here’s what it made me realize…

So many authors are giving up WAY too easily.

On ads. On social media. On marketing.

On their dreams.

I’ve spent my career working with entrepreneurs on their businesses… and having seen many other (yes, easier 😬) industries, I can confidently say…

Running an author business is NO JOKE.

But think about this… Entrepreneurs in other industries don’t get to say:

“Marketing doesn’t work for me” .. and walk away. 🐾

They MUST figure it out – or their business doesn’t survive.

❌ They don’t quit.

And neither should authors.

Saying “ads don’t work” or “readers don’t like my books” is like declaring defeat in an area you could master.

It’s saying, “I can’t connect with my audience”

but here’s the thing…

Connecting with your audience is a skill. A learnable, fixable skill.

Marketing isn’t magic.

It’s a puzzle. 🧩

And yes, sometimes a very hard one.

But please… giving up… should not be an option. Embrace the hard. 🤗

How does this sit with you?
