How important is this author duty?
I’ve been working on a presentation about something I truly believe every author should have…
I’ve polled real-life author audiences about this, and both times, less than half of the room said they had it…
The thing?
A clear and motivating vision for their career.
This isn’t the “How To” plan—it’s the bigger, emotional vision of success for the coming years and decades.
It’s not just “be a full-time writer…”
It’s something deeper, something you can feel and visualize.
Where do you live? How do you feel when you wake up? What do your days look like? What does your free time look like? Who are you spending your time with? How are you contributing?
What would need to change in your life for you to recognize that you’ve “made it”—your version of success?
I could go on and on about why I believe this vision is so important—it helps with goal setting, recognizing successes, deciding what to track, choosing next steps, resisting distractions, and so much more.
But I’m so curious… is this “clear, motivating vision” thing important for you?
